A friend of mine approached me to create a simple EP cover for his solo band project called Paperback Scrawl. He told me that he saw a chalk drawing of a songbird riding on top of a whale, and he wanted that as the basis of the cover. I took this and basically made it the entire cover. The simple, two color design reflects the music, which is just one, sometimes two, acoustic guitars and vocals. The yellow/cream color gives it an old, folkish tone, while the blue, in addition to complementing the cream, represents the water that I had cut from the design. I added a very minimal texture as well as a simple pseudo-3D effect to the text to give the cover a little more depth.
